So Far - A Better Day

Everything went fine with the spinal tap yesterday afternoon and Nathaniel does not have meningitis. The reason for the spinal tap was irregular labs. The initial blood work came back inconclusive and so they did a culture of his blood and his urine. The blood culture came back positive so they felt the need to do the spinal tap. He is on antibiotics for an infection and they have taken a second sample of blood for another culture and those results should be in later today. He will be on antibiotics for at least 7 days and possibly 14. Chad spent the afternoon and evening with him and said that he was active and alert so that is great news. At weigh in last night we was 3lbs 2oz so we have lost a little but I expected this to happen. He is receiving 1 liter of oxygen through the nasal cannula. He is still not back on the breast milk so all his nutrition and fats are being given through his IV for now. The feedings may start back today or tomorrow depending on what the doctors decide during rounds. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I hope we are back on an upswing!
