Walking With A Purpose

For a couple months now I could stand Nathaniel in front of the chair or couch and move back 6 to 8 feet and he would walk to me with just his braces and shoes on - no walker. He would normally make it to me with a big smile on his face and very proud of himself. Walking yes but not walking on his own initiative and still very unsteady and wobbly. Just in the last 2 weeks Nathaniel has started pulling up on things and walking from one place to another with a purpose - going to get a toy or moving from the play room to the kitchen, etc. I can now say my child can walk! WOW what a miracle just before his second birthday! He still uses the walker outside and some inside but I am trying to encourage him to walk more on his own in the house (sometimes I hide the walker or conveniently leave it outside)! He is not always steady on his feet and he falls a lot but will normally crawl to a place he can pull up or ask for help getting up and start walking again. He is also almost able to stand up without using something to pull up on. It is so exciting to see him progress each day and walk more and more. He is not a full time walker yet (we probably still have several months to go)but he can walk and does it pretty well when he doesn't forget to put one foot in front of the other!
Here is a short video of Nathaniel walking during his PT sessions with Ann last week. We met at a local school playground and it was very hot so he looks pretty hot and sweaty but still walking!

Wow, look at him go! You will have to chase after him soon and then you will never get to sit down again.
