Nathaniel had an appointment at Kennedy Krieger a few weeks ago (8/29). This was his 2 year check-up; a couple months late due to scheduling issues and vacations. Dr. Leppert has followed Nathaniel's progress since he left the NICU and we love her. She put Nathaniel through a few tests to check his speech, cognitive, and motor skills. She rated his speech at 30 months, his nonverbal/cognitive skills at 26 months. And she was very impressed with his walking since the last time we were there he wasn't walking on his own. Overall she said he was doing extremely well and she doesn't need to see him again until he is 3. YAY!!!!!
We also met with the PT therapist, Liz, and she was also impressed with his walking skills. The only concern is that he is very tight through the lower part of his body. They would like for us to work on more stretching especially the hamstrings so they continue to grow with his body. Stretching is something Nathaniel hates and therefore is not fun for either of us. He figures out real quick that we are not just playing a game and wants to quit. I have spoken with our local PT therapist and Ann recommended a few new things to try and said to look into a mommy & me gymnastics class so that is something I am researching now.
Nathaniel's stats at 26 months:
Weight: 24 lbs - 5th percentile (30th on the preemie chart)
Height: 34.1 inches - 40th percentile (60th on the preemie chart)

Awesome news! Will pray for the tightness in his legs. A gymnastics class sounds like fun!
Stretching..yuck! Hope you can find the gym class together.
