We had "workers" (Nathaniel's word) at our house for several days last week taking care of some much needed improvements. First on the list; a new air conditioner! Ours was pretty old and has given us some trouble the last couple of summers so we decided to go ahead and replace it before it completely died.

Next new siding, soffit and gutters on the house. This is something we have wanted/needed to do since we bought the house about 6 years ago.

And last but not least tear down the old deck and eventually we will have a new one built. We had an upper and lower deck on the back of our house and those too needed to be replaced. Since home improvements are quiet pricey; we had the top deck and steps removed and hauled away and are having a ledger board put up so we can add a new deck later. If we are real lucky my wonderful Dad aka Pops will be willing to help us rebuild saving us a LARGE amount of cash!

Eventually the bottom deck will be removed too but it is much smaller and a job we can do ourselves before we rebuild.

We still have a long to do list but I love that in just one short week we were able to cross so many things off the list and the house looks great and will be even better once we finish. OK so maybe when you own a house you are never finished but we are trying!

While all the work was being done Nathaniel and I supervised/took pictures (I'm sure the workers loved this) and played on his swing in the back yard. And amazingly enough even with all the loud noise from the siding replacement and deck demo Nathaniel still took a 2 hour nap!
