BBF Halloween Party & Reunited Story

Nathaniel's school Halloween party was yesterday. The class walked into the big room all dressed up and performed 2 poems before we got to play lots of games. It was great fun! One of the games was guess the amount of candy in the jar and guess who won? Like our family needs anymore candy right now; oh well Nathaniel was ecstatic about his huge win!

A neat little story about the kiddos in the last 2 pictures with Nathaniel. They are boy/girl twins - Jordan and Savannah and all three of our kids were in the NICU together at Johns Hopkins. Jordan and Savannah were born at 27 weeks mid/late May and Nathaniel was born at 29 weeks early June. The NICU is a very sad place with so many babies and nurses but not always a lot of parents/families around. Chad and/or I visited Nathaniel everyday and we noticed the twins and saw that they too had parents/family there daily visiting, caring for and spending time with them. After a few days you get to know the familiar faces and as a result we became friendly with their parents, Nicole and Aaron. We soon realized that we were all from southern Maryland and all traveled the grueling 2 hours each day to see our babies. The twins had a few more complications than Nathaniel and eventually they were moved to the Hopkins main campus for surgeries and we lost contact with them. Well fast forward 4 years to BBF orientation when I noticed a mom that vaguely looked familiar with boy/girl twins. I asked her if the kids names were Jordan and Savannah and if they were in the NICU at Hopkins. She looked at me surprised and said yes, that is when we realized that our kids had been there together but we lost contact until she enrolled them in preschool. What a blessing to be reunited with them, I have often thought about them and wondered how they were doing. Nathaniel is now great friends with Jordan and Savannah and talks about them all the time. I think he has a little crush on Savannah!
