Mom's Retirement & NC State Fair

After Mom broke her hip this summer she was unable to teach her obedience lessons so her 3rd daughter Meagan took over. Meagan really is like another daughter to Mom and Dad and a sister to me, Jenny & Jason. Meagan lives close to them and has herself taken lessons from Mom for years. She and her husband, Dean,  help out with whatever Mom and Dad need. Dad builds and fixes things in their house too just as he has done for his own 3 kids. It is so wonderful that they are so close since Jason and I are both about 4 hours away and Jenny is 2. Anyway, Meagan took over the lessons and since then has done a fantastic job. Mom realized fairly quickly that it may be a good time to retire and turn the "business" over to Meagan. We wanted a fun way to celebrate this decision so decided to put together a retirement party. This past Saturday we invited all of Mom's lessons from the last 30 years of teaching to the building to celebrate. Its was great to see so many people and it was a really fun party and great way for mom to turn things over to Meagan.

*I'll add more pictures from the party once Meagan sends them to me - they are all on her camera.

Since we happened to be in NC during the State Fair we decided to take Nathaniel on Sunday. Grammy, Pops, Aunt Jenny and Uncle Chris all joined us and it was a fantastic time. Nathaniel is at the age where he really just wants to ride rides and play games. The animals aren't quite as exciting anymore but we did get to walk though most of the animal exhibits, and Nathaniel got to milk a cow! We had beautiful weather for the fair but got there early when the crowds weren't too bad. By the time we left it was a zoo and the lines were ridiculous! Its been at least 12 years since I or Chad have been to the NC State Fair and we really enjoyed going back. One of the highlights, besides the fair food, was riding the giant gondola Farris wheel as a family!
