We just got back from a wonderful visit to NC. Chad had a shooting match in Raleigh last Thursday, Friday and Saturday so we decided to make it a family mini vacation and head to Grammy & Pops for a few days. Nathaniel and I hung out at their house and Chad traveled to Raleigh each morning for the match and returned in the afternoons. Nathaniel was thrilled to be on the farm/lake for a few days. He rode the tractor with Pops, went on gator rides with Grammy, planted flowers and helped spread fertilizer. We also did some relaxing and playing with the dogs. Aunt Jenny drove over from Winston Salem after she got off work on Saturday and spent sometime with us too. We had beautiful weather and it was so nice to see everyone. Each time we visit it makes me miss my family and NC even more.
And a little story about the pigeon in the picture above. Mom and I were out in the field on the gator. Mom was working the dogs on sheep and I was just along for the ride. I noticed this bird walking in the middle of the road in their development. Well after working 2 dogs and being up and down the field a couple of times it was still just wondering around. Mom put the dogs in the barn and we rode out to check on it. We noticed it was banded but didn't fly away from us when we approached it. We called Meagan since she has a bird cage and then put a laundry basket over it and slid a piece of cardboard under so we could put it in the gator and get it back to the house. Meagan arrived a little while later and took it to a local vet. It is a homing pigeon but hungry, thirsty and tired so he is resting up and will be released in a few days to fly home.
