Kennedy Krieger Orthopedic Appointment

Nathaniel's appointment on Wednesday went great. It was a long morning for us since we left our house at 5:30am and didn't get home until 12:30pm but at least Nathaniel was in great spirits for the appointment. He really did wonderful and participated in everything they asked him to do - walk, run, jump, etc. They also got all of his measurements so I will post them here for my records:
Weight: 26lbs
Height: 2feet 11inches
He has just about out grown his braces so they recast his feet and legs so a new pair can be made - we should have them in about a month. They are sticking with the leaf spring type since that's what he has now that is working so well and providing just the right amount of support. They also took an x-ray of his pelvis and hips. The right side is perfect and the left is just a tad low so they will continue to x-ray every 6 months. This is so we can keep an eye on the hip and make sure it doesn't become dislocated. Delayed walkers with tightness in the legs like Nathaniel are at a higher risk for hip problems. These can lead to braces and/or surgery depending on the severity. Lets all hope and pray Nathaniel's hips stay in place!
A bit of sad news, Dr. Leet is moving to head up an ortho department for a hospital in Hawaii so the next time we return we will have to meet a new doctor.  At least I like Kennedy Krieger and feel confident that any of the other ortho doctors will be just as great.
